One of the unique strengths of FOCUS St. Louis is our leadership programs have the ability to bring together diverse cohorts of participants from across backgrounds, geographic area and schools or industries.

Despite the continued uncertainty around coronavirus, we know that developing leaders in our region, especially student leaders is more important than ever. We remain committed to providing the high-quality leadership experience our programs are known for, while also ensuring the health and safety of our program participants, staff and partners.

What if social distancing is still in effect?
Plans are already underway to adapt our programs for several possible scenarios, including virtual, small-group and in-person sessions. Our program directors are exploring creative ways to deliver our regular (and new!) curriculum that we believe will provide an even richer experience for participants.

The current pandemic has highlighted the need for thoughtful leaders who are resilient, collaborative, creative and adaptable - the very definition of a FOCUS-trained leader. Join us as we continue this tradition!

Program Overview

Founded in 1989, Youth Leadership St. Louis (YLSL) is an internationally recognized program that informs, connects, prepares and empowers St. Louis area youth to become civic and community leaders.

Ideal Candidate

Be in good standing as a student
Make the commitment to attend scheduled program days (in-person or virtual)
Complete the required participation and consent forms
Have an interest in strengthening leadership skills and community involvement

Program Attendance

Full attendance by each participant is necessary if the YLSL program is to meet your leadership goals as well as our program goals. Therefore, it is essential for you, the participant, to fully understand the importance of attending each session. Please review the calendar of program dates.
