A year into Mayor Lyda Krewson’s first term, and with the recent hiring of Director of Public Safety Jimmie Edwards and Chief of Police John Hayden, the City of St. Louis finds itself with a new slate of public safety leadership. These leaders face both the challenge and opportunity of working together with a resurgently vocal and organized activist community on issues of policing and violence in our city. This opportunity couldn’t come at a more crucial time for St. Louis, which finds itself again in the national spotlight on issues of policing and violence.

FOCUS St. Louis members are invited to join us for a conversation about the future of policing in St. Louis with:

  • Judge Jimmie Edwards, St. Louis’ Director of Public Safety and former Circuit Court Judge
  • Reverend Gill Ford, NAACP National Director of Unit Administration and civilian member of the Colorado P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards & Training)
  • Representative Bruce Franks Jr., State Representative, 78th district, Community Grassroots Activist, and former SLMPD Community Liaison
  • Chief of Police John Hayden, 30 year veteran of the SLMPD, former Commander of the North Patrol Division and St. Louis native.
