Helping Create a more cooperative, thriving region
At FOCUS, we believe being a strong community leaders means staying informed and engaged in the issues that face our region, issues such race, education, economic development, poverty and the arts. As a neutral convener and facilitator, FOCUS engages citizens to deliberate on critical regional community issues in a trusted, nonpartisan space. A significant number of programs and events, such as Breakfast Connections and Dialogue & Drafts, give members and friends the opportunity to network while exploring regional community issues and concerns.
Building on FOCUS' extensive policy history, FOCUS now explores the issues facing the St. Louis region through discussion guides, policy forums and community partnerships. Community Conversations was launched to engage citizens in current regional issues and build civic capacity. The Community Conversations model includes identifying pressing policy issues and creating discussion guides that frame the issue and facilitate public discourse. These guides are supplemented by policy forums and other events that welcome multiple viewpoints on a variety of topics.
