FOCUS St. Louis Announces New Hires, Promotion

FOCUS St. Louis®, the region’s premier leadership organization, is pleased to announce the addition of Michelle Miller and Nikki Whetsell to its full-time staff. Michelle joins FOCUS as Director, Coro™ Fellows Program in Public Affairs, and Nikki will serve as Program Coordinator. In addition, staff member Beth Casagrand has been promoted to Director, Youth Leadership St. Louis and Emerging Leaders.

Before coming to FOCUS, Michelle Miller worked for nine years at the Missouri Foundation for Health, most recently serving as Public Policy Liaison. In her new role, she will serve as Director and Trainer for the Coro Fellows Program, a full-time nine-month experiential learning program for college graduates. She graduated from the Coro Fellows program in 2006 and has since served on the board of directors for the Coro Leadership Center-St. Louis and the Coro Advisory Committee for FOCUS. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Nurses Foundation, the Alumni Board of Governors for Washington University and the Advocacy Advisory Committee for Catholic Charities of Greater St. Louis and is a past board member for FOCUS. She holds bachelor’s degrees in history, biology and painting from Washington University.

In her new position as Program Coordinator, Nikki Whetsell will provide support for Leadership St. Louis, Youth Leadership St. Louis and Experience St. Louis, as well assist with FOCUS events. She recently received her master’s degree in communication studies from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she served as a teaching assistant. She also served as Special Events Extern for the Saint Louis Zoo. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Olivet Nazarene University.

FOCUS is also excited for Beth Casagrand to take on the position of Director, Youth Leadership St. Louis and Emerging Leaders, following the recent retirement of YLSL Director Mary Dee Schmidt. Beth is approaching her fifth year with FOCUS St. Louis and most recently served as Programs Manager and Emerging Leaders Director.
