Chris Krehmeyer of Beyond Housing is 2014 Leadership Award Honoree

FOCUS St. Louis® is proud to honor Mr.
Chris Krehmeyer, President and CEO of Beyond Housing, with the 2014 Leadership
Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates
remarkable and courageous community leadership, has meaningful impact on the
community, and encourages strong community leadership in others. FOCUS will
present the award at the What's Right
with the Region! awards celebration on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the
Sheldon Concert Hall in Grand Center.
"We are thrilled to honor Chris Krehmeyer for his
tireless commitment to strengthening neighborhoods and communities in our
region,” said Kathy Reeves, board president of FOCUS St. Louis. "His energy and
leadership have led to innovative partnerships, increased collaboration, and
most importantly, more positive outcomes for many families in St. Louis.”
Since graduating from Washington University in
1986, Mr. Krehmeyer has been working to develop strong communities and quality
affordable options for the St. Louis region. He has served as the President/CEO
of Beyond Housing, a community development organization, since 1993. Under his
leadership, Beyond Housing helps make homeownership a reality for many in St.
Louis by producing and managing service-enriched affordable housing and
providing comprehensive resources for families, including financial education,
foreclosure intervention and youth development programs. Beyond Housing also
leads the comprehensive community building initiative 24:1, which addresses the
serious challenges facing the municipalities within the Normandy School
The NAACP of St. Louis named him an "Inspiring
St. Louisan” in 2011, and in 2011 and 2012 he was named one of "Most
Influential St. Louisans” by the St. Louis Business Journal. Chris is married with three children and has
an undergraduate degree in urban studies from Washington University in St.
