The St. Louis region is currently home to more than 700 bioscience companies employing about 16,500 scientists and staff and the world’s largest concentration of plant science Ph.D.s. This growth has not been by accident, but rather through the purposeful and strategic efforts of leaders over the past 20 years. Click here for a quick snapshot of the economic impact of this industry and some of the key contributors.

Join FOCUS on Nov. 11 for a recap of the development in recent years, a closer look at the efforts to attract new talent, companies and investors to the region, and meet the leaders helping to shape St. Louis' reputation as a life sciences hub.

Speakers are scheduled to include:

  • Sam Fiorello, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance at The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, President of Bio Research & Development Growth Park (BRDG Park) on the Danforth Center campus
  • Richard Norris, Director - Center for Plant and Life Sciences, St. Louis Community College
  • Terry Woodford Thomas, Director, Science Education and Outreach, Danforth Plant Science Center
  • Ben Johnson, Program Director, BioSTL
