Breakfast Connection: Insider’s Tour of the World Chess Hall of Fame and the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis
Please join us on Thursday, February 9th for an insider’s tour of the World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF). The World Chess Hall of Fame, which moved to Saint Louis from Miami, Florida, recently opened in Saint Louis’ Central West End, across the street from the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis (CCSCSL). Your visit will include an exclusive tour of the WCHOF’s current exhibitions and a brief trip to the CCSCSL.
The World Chess Hall of Fame is the only institution of its kind and offers a variety of programming to explore the dynamic relationship between art and chess. The current exhibitions include, OUT OF THE BOX: Artist Play Chess, which features work from internationally recognized contemporary artists such as Tom Friedman and Barbara Kruger, and Chess Masterpieces: Highlights from the Dr. George and Vivian Dean Collection, representing a selection of outstanding historical chess sets from one of the world’s premier private collections.
Saint Louis has been named “Chess City of the Year” for the second time in 2011. The Chess Club and Scholastic Center’s growing reputation as the home of U.S. Championship Chess and the opening and innovative exhibitions at the World Chess Hall of Fame have solidified the city of Saint Louis as the pre-eminent destination to play, learn, and experience chess in its many dimensions.
