As a neutral convener and facilitator, FOCUS seeks to engage a vigorous dialogue and debate on a wide variety of public policy issues that are critical to the health and prosperity of the St. Louis region. FOCUS is moving from a traditional task force model focused on a single issue each year to a model looking at several issues simultaneously, utilizing a variety of techniques, from an electronic newsletter and social media to small group, face-to-face meetings. This new model will allow FOCUS to stay involved in many more issues than in the past and, more importantly, to become involved in these issues throughout the entire region. We will be organizing discussions on a range of issues throughout the region, and we encourage you to make plans for your own Community Conversations. We've provided some of the materials for you to get the process started. Below are some policy discussion guides on many of the issues facing the region, and we will be adding to this list on a regular basis. We also have some Guidelines for Civil Discourse, an essential part of any meaningful discussion.  A list and map of Community Conversations that will be taking place will also be available and updated regularly, making planning easier.
