So Forbes Magazine says we’re the 7th most miserable city in America? I would have to say, I disagree. I don’t disagree simply because I am a St. Louis native or because I dislike someone slamming my hometown. I have lived in six cities around the U.S., on both coasts and in the middle of the country since 1999 but my wife and I still came back here to start a family. Every city has its pros and cons. But I don’t believe St. Louis gets credit for the pros. After all, we do still have those great Midwestern values and work ethic. They really do exist. We have a relatively stable housing market without the extreme boom and extreme bust other cities have seen (this was pointed out by one of our friends on Facebook read more here), we have very little traffic compared to some other cities and whether our sports teams are good or bad, St. Louis is routinely rated as having some of the best fans, which I think goes back to our values. St. Louis has a lot to offer anyone who lives here and I am proud to be back in the gateway city.

Why are you proud to be here? Give a shout out for St. Louis. Post a reply here, on our Facebook page or on twitter and help us find 100 reasons St. Louis is a great place to live. I’ll start the list with the five above.

Re: Not so Miserable St. Louis

The small communities such as The Hill, Dogtown, Soulard, etc that provide the historical nature of our great city.
