If saving the planet isn’t cause enough to make greener choices, maybe saving some green is. There are many facts backing up that going green can actually be great for business. Greener habits can not only help save money, but can make for an overall efficient design, are a great investment and can even create jobs. Some no-cost examples of ways businesses can make greener choices is limiting the number of papers that may be copied or printed, turning off lights in offices that are not being used and, of course, recycling. Other suggestions include switching light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs, using trucks that run on biodiesel and utilizing more sustainable resources for manufacturing. The fact is that all of these options, whether they are free to employ or not can actually save a business money. Businesses in general, have the responsibility to be leaders in their communities. They have the power to direct change. They can do their part by making greener choices, which, in turn, might influence their employees and in some ways, the public. While there is no silver bullet for achieving environmental sustainability, conscious efforts to make better environmental choices will lead to positive impacts in both our pockets and our planet.
