As the Director of Community Policy, John directs the work of various Task Forces assembled to examine critical issues in the region. Currently, John is working with the Environmental Sustainability Implementation Committee to help local governments in the St. Louis region enhance their level of environmental awareness. He is also working with the Disaster Preparedness Implementation Committee to put into practice certain recommendations of FOCUS’ September 2007 St. Louis Regional Disaster Preparedness report as well as to coordinate a Disaster Preparedness Public Awareness Campaign. He also is working with the region’s independent living centers to further disaster preparedness awareness for the disabled community. John also coordinates various policy forums with area organizations to discuss timely issues in the region.
Prior to his role in public policy, he worked for over ten years as an environmental chemist, analyzing various materials for dioxin and PCBs. He also has extensive experience as a city planner, both in the public and private sectors. John holds a bachelors degree in Wildlife Science from Purdue University as well as a Masters of Urban Planning degree from the University of Kansas. He is also pursuing a doctorate in public policy from Saint Louis University.
