about the program

The Women in Leadership (WIL) – STEM program is designed to help early-career women in STEM fields build their leadership competencies to gain a competitive advantage for leadership positions in their field. Tuition is free of charge due to a generous partnership with MasterCard. The cohort will include 40 women. Ideal candidates include:

  • Women of any age who are new (1-3 years) to science, technology, engineering, math or agriculture industries
  • Female entrepreneurs of any age who are in the start-up phase (1-3 years or less than $1M in gross sales) of a STEM-related business
  • Women in STEM careers (any number of years’ experience) who have not had access to leadership development training through their work or school environments
  • Women in training for a STEM-related job (i.e., women in coding classes, juniors and seniors in college or post-graduate programs majoring in STEM fields, etc.)


What will I learn?

  • Emotional Intelligence (EI), including an EI assessment, which has been identified as a key factor in leadership success in all industries
  • Civic leadership and leadership challenges for women in STEM fields, including an exploration of the social responsibility of STEM industries in their surrounding communities
  • Coro™ methodology including training in inquiry, interpersonal skills, best leadership practices for women leaders and more
  • Incorporation of proven leadership strategies into the workplace, utilizing identification of self-leadership skills and qualities
  • Field assignments to assist in learning
  • Guest speakers from STEM fields to assist in learning
  • Group exercises that encourage sharing of information and experiences between classmates

Commitment

The Spring 2018 Cohort will meet on the following days:

 

Seminar 1 Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Field Day 1 Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Seminar 2 Saturday, March 3, 2018 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Field Day 2  Saturday, March 17, 2018 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Seminar 3 Saturday, March 31, 2018 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Seminars will be held at the FOCUS St. Louis office in the Old Post Office building. The address is 815 Olive St., Suite 110, St. Louis, MO 63103. Parking validation will be provided for the 9th Street Garage.

 

Locations for Field Days will be provided prior to the start of the program.
