About the program
Founded in 1976, the Leadership St. Louis® (LSL) program is one of the most highly-respected leadership development programs in the nation. The program was built on the belief that the community, just as any business or organization, requires strong leadership to grow and improve. Graduates of the program include CEOs and other corporate senior level executives, business owners, state senators and representatives, mayors, school superintendents and principals, university chancellors and deans, attorneys and nonprofit executive directors. The common ground under this wide array of participants is a deep and active commitment to community improvement.
Structure of the program
Seminars enhance self-awareness of leadership approaches and include on-site visits with decision makers that inspire participants to address community challenges. Seminar topics include:
The program provides community immersion experiences and advanced skill development which enable participants to explore critical issues in our region. LSL classes meet for full-day sessions on Friday and Saturday each month from September to May. Opening and closing sessions are both overnight retreats.
The tuition for the 2017-18 Leadership St. Louis program is $5,000. Often the tuition is paid by the participant's employer. Partial financial aid, made possible through the generosity of past directors, our alumni and sponsors is available to participants with a demonstrated need upon acceptance.
