"At times, our seminar discussions and field interviews were so entirely relevant to what I needed in that moment, that it was uncanny. The Coro WIL program helped me take my leadership to the next level, and I began to see myself as an leader, rather than a manager."

- Opal M. Jones, President and Chief Executive Officer, Doorways Housing

About the program

The Coro™ Women In Leadership (WIL) program is a five-month, part-time training program that provides women the opportunity to refine their personal and professional leadership competencies, learn about the St. Louis community, and connect with other women from diverse backgrounds. Graduates of the program gain improved leadership effectiveness to apply to their personal and professional lives, an enhanced ability to network within the community, and the access to resources to produce results.

Structure of the program

The program utilizes the following training principles:

  • Emphasis on inquiry and experiential learning
  • Exposes participants public, private, and civic sectors
  • Using the community as a classroom
  • Provides opportunities for participants to assess leadership competencies and develop strategies for improvement
  • Values the critical role of diversity and inclusion in leadership training

The Coro Women In Leadership program consists of five seminars, held on Saturdays (approximately one per month), and four Field Days held on Thursdays (approximately one per month). Seminars and Field Days are held all over the St. Louis community, giving participants the opportunity to visit a wide variety of locations and observe different styles of operation and leadership. Attendance is required at all sessions.

The tuition for the Coro Women In Leadership program is $2,000. Often the cost is paid by the participant's employer. Partial scholarships are available for qualifying candidates after selection into the program.
